- When you go to buy bread in the grocery store, have you ever wondered which is the freshest, so you "squeeze" for freshness or softness? Did you know that bread is delivered fresh to the stores five days a week? Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each day has a different color twist tie. They are:
Monday = Blue, Tuesday = Green, Thursday = Red, Friday = White, and Saturday = Yellow .
So if today was Thursday, you would want red twist tie; not white which is Fridays (almost a week old)! The colors go alphabetically by color Blue - Green - Red - White - Yellow , Monday through Saturday. Very easy to remember. I thought this was interesting. I looked in the grocery store and the bread wrappers DO have different twist ties, and even the ones with the plastic clips have different colors. You learn something new everyday! Enjoy fresh bread when you buy bread with the right color on the day you are shopping.

| GET YOUR GAS WHEN THE WEATHER IS COOL |
| I've been in petroleum pipeline business for about 31 years, currently working for the Kinder-Morgan Pipeline here in San Jose, CA. We deliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period from the pipe line; one day it's diesel, the next day it's jet fuel and gasoline. We have 34 storage tanks here with a total capacity of 16,800,000 gallons. Here are some tricks to help you get your money's worth.
|
- Fill up your car or truck in the morning when the temperature is still cool. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground; and the colder the ground, the denser the gasoline. When it gets warmer, gasoline expands, so if you're filling up in the afternoon or in the evening, what should be a gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and temperature of the fuel (gasoline, diese l, jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products) are significant. Every truckload that we load is temperature-compensated so that the indicated gallonage (gauge) is actually the amount pumped. A one-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for businesses, but service stations don't have temperature com pensation at their pumps.
- If a tanker truck is filling the station's tank at the time you want to buy gas, do not fill up; most likely dirt and sludge in the tank is being stirred up when gas is being delivered, and you might be transferring that dirt from the bottom of their tank into your car's tank.
- Fill up when your gas tank is half-full (or half-empty), because the more gas you have in your tank the less air there is and gasoline evaporates rapidly, especially when it's warm. (Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating 'roof' membrane to act as a barrier between the gas and the atmosphere, thereby minimizing
evaporation).
- If you look at the trigger you'll see that it has three delivery settings: slow, medium and high. When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to the high setting. You should be pumping at the slow setting, thereby minimizing vapors created while you are pumping. Hoses at the pump are corrugated; the corrugations act as a return path for vapor re covery from gas that already has been metered. If you are pumping at the high setting, the agitated gasoline contains more vapor, which is being sucked back into the underground tank so you're getting less gas for your money

| Tips on Peroxide |
| This was written by Becky Ransey of Indiana |
- Take one capful (the little white cap that comes with the bottle) and hold in your mouth for 10 minutes daily,
then spit it out. (I do it when I bathe) No more canker sores and your teeth will be whiter without expensive pastes.
Use it instead of mouthwash. (small print says mouth wash and gargle right on the bottle)
- Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of "Peroxide" to keep them free of germs.
- Clean your counters, table tops with peroxide to kill germs and leave a fresh smell.
Simply put a little on your dishrag when you wipe, or spray it on the counters.
- After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria.
- I had fungus on my feet for years - until I sprayed a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water on them
(especially the toes) every night and let dry.
- Soak any infections or cuts in 3% peroxide for five to ten minutes several times a day. My husband
has seen gangrene that would not heal with any medicine, but was healed by soaking in peroxide.

has seen gangrene that would not heal with any medicine, but was healed by soaking in peroxide.
- Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water and keep it in every
bathroom to disinfect without harming your septic system like bleach or most other disinfectants will.
- Tilt your head back and spray into nostrils with your 50/50 mixture whenever you have a cold, or
plugged sinuses. It will bubble and help to kill the bacteria. Hold for a few minutes then blow your
nose into a tissue.
- If you have a terrible toothache and cannot get to a dentist right away, put a capful of 3% peroxide
into your mouth and hold it for ten minutes several times a day. The pain will lessen greatly.
- And of course, if you like a natural look to your hair, spray the 50/50 solution on your wet hair
after a shower and comb it through. You will not have the peroxide burnt blonde hair like the hair dye
packages, but more natural highlights if your hair is a light brown, faddish, or dirty blonde. It also
lightens gradually so it's not a drastic change.
- Put half a bottle of peroxide in your bath to help rid boils, fungus, or other skin infections.
- You can also add a cup of peroxide instead of bleach to a load of whites in your laundry to whiten
them. If there is blood on clothing, Pour directly on the soiled spot. Let it sit for a minute, then rub
it and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.
- I use peroxide to clean my mirrors with, and there is no smearing which is why I love it so much for this.
